Professor and students win top honor at international migration conference

A Kennesaw State University professor and two of his doctoral students received “Best Paper” honor among the more than 500 papers scholars from around the globe submitted for presentation at the 2017 Migration Conference in Athens, Greece last month. Joseph Bock, director of the School of Conflict Management, Peace Building and Development and associate professor, co-wrote the paper – a survey of information and communications technologies (ICTs) that can be used to help migrants or to enhance how migrants can help each other – with Kevin McMahon and Ziaul Haque, both second-year students in Kennesaw State’s Ph.D. program in International Conflict Management.

Top South Korean army official to discuss Korean Peninsula tensions at Kennesaw State

Lieutenant General (Ret.) In-Bum Chun, a highly decorated veteran of the Republic of Korea (ROK) Army, will discuss the implications for South Korea and the U.S. of current tensions on the Korean Peninsula during a visit to Kennesaw State University on Sept. 28.

Strong return on investment for Kennesaw State graduates

Kennesaw State University graduates earn higher salaries in their chosen career fields than those from the majority of Georgia’s colleges and universities, according to this year’s rankings by salary information company PayScale. Kennesaw State ranked fifth out of 41 public and private institutions in Georgia in PayScale’s 2017 College Salary Report.

Award-winning Georgia News Lab and director relocated to Kennesaw State

Kennesaw State has become the new home for The Georgia News Lab, an investigative reporting collaborative that has received multiple awards for the training of young investigative journalists. Lab Director David Armstrong has been named a journalist-in-residence for the University’s School of Communication and Media.

Kennesaw State to offer new undergraduate communication major

Students pursuing a degree in communication at Kennesaw State University will now have the option of earning a Bachelor of Science with a major in Organizational and Professional Communication following a vote Tuesday by the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia.

Summer Commencement ceremonies to be held at Kennesaw State Campus on July 28

The Honorable LaDoris “Dot” Harris, the former director of the Office of Economic Impact and Diversity at the U.S. Department of Energy and a Southern Polytechnic State University alumna, will address more than 2,000 graduates at Kennesaw State University’s summer Commencement, beginning Friday, July 28, at 10 a.m. Other speakers include Teresa M. Joyce, professor emeritus of management, and Mark R. Anderson, the dean of the College of Science and Mathematics. Kennesaw State President Samuel S. Olens will preside over the three graduation ceremonies in the KSU Convocation Center on the Kennesaw Campus.

More than 3,200 graduate during Commencement ceremonies

More than 3,200 students will graduate during Kennesaw State University’s spring Commencement. Among the speakers who will deliver addresses are the first black female Air Force general, an internationally recognized entrepreneur, and a high school dropout who became a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army and will graduate from medical school this month. Kennesaw State President Samuel S. Olens will preside over the five graduation ceremonies in the KSU Convocation Center on the Kennesaw Campus, beginning Tuesday, May 9, at 10 a.m.
